im thinking of upgrading my duo this week too,ive also had an ultimo in the past,im stuck between solo 2 and duo 2 but there a little more cash than the duo, depends on the money youre willing to spend on your new reciever.
the newer technomates seem good value for money and are around the same price range as a new duo

I would go with the Solo2 mate, a fantastic receiver.
Vu+ Ultimo 4K with 3TB HDD, Dual FBC (Sat) tuners, 1x Twin Hybrid DVB-C/T/T2 tuner
Vu+ Solo 4K with 1TB HDD, Dual FBC (Sat) tuners, 1x Hybrid DVB-C/T/T2 tuner
    Vu+ Solo 2 with 1TB HDD 'White Edition', 2x DVB-S2 tuners
    Mut@nt HD2400 with 1TB HDD, 4x DVB-S2 tuners
Fixed 28.2E Technomate 65cm Mesh Satellite Dish with Inverto Unicable II/JESS LNB and Inverto Unicable Splitter
Fixed 28.2E Sky Zone 1 45cm Satellite Dish with Octo LNB
(All receivers installed with the latest Dev build)

The Gigablue Quad Plus is also worth a look, I have been pleasantly surprised since I purchased mine, also take a look at the LX3 and Mut@nt HD2400 they are very good receivers as well and should last you a long time

What's the reason behind wanting to change from the duo?

duo still works but not as fast as the solo2 which is newer, and in turn newer box will replace the solo2

Solo2 is a perfect replacement for the original Duo.
Maybe worth thinking about other requirements though, extra tuners needed any time soon? If not, Solo2 will suit your needs well.

Hi everyone, not sure if I am posting in the right section so apologies where necessary. I am looking to get away from my sly subscription so would love it if someone could recommend a good receiver. My needs:
    1) Record 2 channels while watching another so probably a triple tuner at minimum
    2) Enigma2 as I would love a proper EPG
    3) Is it necessary to get a dvd-c/t/t2 tuner if I get sat reception?... Intent is to get a 80cm dish in the future.

my pick so far is the Golden Interstar LX3 or the vu+ duo2. Please comment as I have even been calling World of Satellite for a couple days now for some advice but no one answers the phone. Any input is appreciated.

Just remember that without a subscription you won't be able to view pay TV channels. A good box to go for as pointed out above would be the solo2 but there are loads more out there that can do the same for less cost. As for dvbc/t that's only useful if you want to receive channels via. A TV ariel or cable.

They never answer the phone in my experience. Call gold wafers, customer service is a lot better. You'll get lots of free to air channels if you motorise an 80cm dish.
With the Duo2 being so cheap now I'd go for that, I have one and it's amazing.

Thanks @ pheonix but I've noticed that the solo2 only has 2 fixed dvd-s/s2 tuner which limits the amount of channels I can record/watch at the same time

He may not be in his office at the time the phone rang, some people have real jobs to get on with and can be sat behind a desk all day long.
