Yes, Magic FHD is fully automatic but uses coloured texts rather than button images (similar to confluence).

Other skins have similar, to varying degrees, but not complete.
With templating the idea is you create one screen with title bar, pig, button bar, etc that will be used by all other screens. e.g. in skin_default the infobars are the only screens that don't use the common template. And even those screens share common templates for picons, icons, etc.
Anyway don't worry, you haven't done anything wrong, it is just that using common templates saves a huge amount of work in the long run and helps to give uniformity across all screens.
