edit - tried various 400x240 picons. Those that were marked transparent were transparent in the GUI but had that grey background on the LCD. Those that were marked blue were indeed blue/grey both on the GUI and on the LCD.

Hi,
is the brightness of the LCD to high? On LCD TV/projector black (transparent) is not black but gray. Either dark or light gray depending on the brightness.

Haven't changed the brightness on the LCD, so it shouldn't be that. The original picons on the ViX download are fine - just the new ones are giving issues. Maybe the black levels are different on the new picons or they are set for a different range of levels?

I have reported issue to Gigablue. It seems they have a problem dealing with 8bit images. This includes the default_picon in images. Convert to 32 bit and they are fine.
May I take the opportunity to remind people ViX has function to use a separate picon folder for LCD picons. They can be placed in a folder caller piconlcd
Menu > Setup > Front Panel Display > Settings > Use separate picon pack for front display

I downloaded the snp picons (400x240) and I opened all the Saorview ones (RTE, Virginmedia 1/2/3, etc.) in an image editor and saved them as 24 bit pngs. They all display fine on the OSD and on the LCD screen. The conversion process makes the files even larger (about 30% - 40%), though. It would be a real pain to have to do this for the hundreds of picons used in Freesat/Sky, so the real solution would be for Gigablue to fix the handling of 8 bit colour images with transparent backgrounds.

Here are the old ipks for any interested parties
Did any fix happen (and been removed) for this issue?
Having the same problem with new 6.2 images.
