Fails to boot after HDD connection

Hi, my TM Nano SE M2 plus running OpenPli image refuses to boot after connecting an external FAT32 formatted drive, what do I do please help.
The green light blinks on and off for hours, no joy.

Do I need to reload image, and or bootloader, if so which ones and from where to obtain latest versions, would a OpenVix bootloader be ok with OpenPli image.
    What can I try.
    Thank you.

sounds like a bad hdd if removed will box start up?. is the external drive got its own externally power ?

i would imagine vix bootloader is used before vix image but unsure if other makers like pli or atv?

err on the caution with bootloaders as maybe not to be used regularly?

how old is your image as sometimes mine are and box gets reflashed and setup from scratch.

Hi than you for reply, the box is only a week old, was bought new from recommended forum supporters. Has been working perfectly. The external HDD does have a 5v external power via usb cable but did not connect it up image is kernel version 4.2.1 and firmware 28/11/2017. tried to re flash as directed in guides, but it appears my Usb stick not recognised, any ideas? please.

if box is only a week old it should not need a new image?
boxes are fussy with usb sticks used needing format fat32 and image extracted to usb.
ones i use kingston, cruzer and integral 8gb in size.
externally powered hdd use mains powered + usb inserted into box for recordings.

so will box boot up without usb and hdd removed?

No regret will not, I have two different kinds of usb stick formatted FAT32, image data extracted onto it but appears not to be recognised by box, and box will not boot. I have ordered new cruzer usb stick.

I am somewhat surprised that your receiver has an OpenPli image as (I believe) they don't support this receiver????? Unless its a 4D image?

The HDD is probably marked "dirty" and linux is trying to clean it before proceeding.

I recommend you flash/install Openvix 5.1 002. You can obtain it from openvix.co.uk. Very few people on here use the 4D image. When I checked a few days ago, their last mage was from July.

There is no need for bootloader flashes. Just flash/install the image

On switching the receiver on there appears an image of 4D, this then progresses to the OpenPli picture then the green light at the front of the receiver flashes on and off and the receiver fails to boot.
Any ideas as to what is happening please?.

Only way of finding out is to start enigma2 in console mode with debug. Issue the command below, post back the result as an attachment. There is a guide on how to issue the commands in my signature, if you need it.

    Code:
    init 4 && ENIGMA_DEBUG_LVL=4 /usr/bin/enigma2
