I have an OS mini that won't boot past the splash screen.
On boot it shows the Openvix screen then goes black with the word boot on the front panel.
Tried re-flashing but the same happens.
What am I to do??

Yeah, it's just a mini and I have the latest version for it. It's suggested you use no bigger than 8GB USB but the smallest I have currently is 16GB. Is that really that important?
The latest attempt it showed the splash screen for approx 10 seconds then powered its self off.
Yeah ive had issues flashing mine with more than a 8gb stick.
All the Kingston 8gb or less seem to work.
i use 3 working brands kingston ,cruzer and integral all 8gb,it does sound like box is not taking the flash,i would also read the flashing guides of this box incase you are not doing something to make the flash start, and i hope your file was extracted to a formatted fat 32 usb stick.simple things can get overlooked.
Right so still not getting anywhere.
Formatted a 4GB USB to Fat32
Placed the osmini folder containing Openvix 4.2 004 in the root
Pressed ok when it recognised the new firmware
Seemed to run the 3 parts fine
Then it reboots with the Openvix splash screen for about 10 seconds then powers itself off.
Think it's a goner.
This is normal for the OS Mini, and it may take a few minutes to complete the image installation and restart. Then it reboots with the Openvix splash screen for about 10 seconds then powers itself off.
You can find out exactly what s going on by using the rs232 adapter and reading the output from the RS232 port.
No, it just stays powered off. How to I use the serial to record whats going on?
Connect the serial port of the OS Mini to the serial port of your computer, then start a serial session using putty or similar program. Putty has options under logging so you can record the output. You should see some data once the box is booted if all the connections are made correctly.

My boxes don,t have an rs232port, but I am assuming the same trick will work (?), which is (providing you know/can find the IP address.....
log in with putty root/no password using the ip address not com
Type init 4 ... wait for 90 secs in case its looping and needs to be stopped
Then enter enigma2 and you should see the log.

Good suggestion.Well worth taking the time to try! Will work if it is loading far enough to get the network, but what he describes, the OS Mini is probably not making it that far. The Mini does not have the actual rs232 connector on the box, but it should have shipped with a rs232 adapter cable.

OpenViX works fine on OS Mini.
Please describe the steps you are taking to flash,
I have flashed around 50 of these boxes and never had an issue before. Sandusky usb formatted to fat 32, image downloaded and extracted, placed on root, box turned off, only key with image plugged in, box on, press ok and image uploads then box restarts, boot message appears on box and open vix logo appears on tv then both go blank. Box shuts down and nothing happens, tv says no input.
