Question 2 satellites and PiP via one cable

    Hi,

I only have one cable and it will be very difficult for me to install more cables.

I want to watch Hotbird and Astra and I want to use PiP. Can I simply use any DiSEqC 4x1 with my Vu+ or am I missing something?

    Is it possible with Vu+?

Please advice as I never watched more than just one channel.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes you can combine satellites on one cable.

However your PiP and recordings will be limited to the satellite and transponder you are on. So, you cannot watch a channel on 28.2 and record/PiP another on 13 if you are using a diseqc switch. Best to run more cables to get most of your Duo2.

    Thanks,

So I would need 4 cables in total?

Which/How many tuners do you have? (Count a twin tuner module as two tuners.)

Based on two dishes/lnbs and two tuners, this an opton for you. Each tuner can then independently switch between the satellites.

Are you paying someone to do this?

No, it's just that I will have to take one decking board off, the one with LEDs. Not a major issue, but I should have done this before :P

So I will need one dual/quad LNB with 4 outputs, two 2x1 (or 4x1?) diseqcs and two cables, correct?

There is no exact answer I am afraid. If you are unlikely to ever need more than one service on hotbird, a single port LNB will be fine, you will only need one diseqc switch. Two port diseqc switches cost same as four ports.
What dish/es do you have intend to get?

With a hi-end receiver like you have. I would recommend you end up having a total of 4 cables from your dish location even though you only have twin tuners at the moment. You will run out of tuners at the wrong moment and wish you had the cabling.

In that case, option for you
    Quad LNB for 28.2
    Twin LNB for 13e
    Twin LNB for 19e
    Multi LNB adpater
    Two 4 port Diseqc switches

4 cables. (Two will go the diseqc switches so you can switch between the three satellites for two tuners. Two cables extra if you get a new twin tuner, they'll go direct to 28.2 LNB)

2 satellites and PiP via one cable

    I actually just want 13e and 19e no 28.2.

What are the prices for tuners for duo2? Or would I be able to keep one tuner and be able to PiP from different transponders using quad LNB?

Once a tuner is in use, it is locked to that transponder, Whether you access it directly or via a diseqc switch.

You can find tuner modules here.

Keep an eye in the classifieds for 2nd hand ones.

It seems like I can get two twin LNBs for less than one quad.

Although a bit more expensive, you could use a stacker/destacker to combine two satellites via just one cable.

Ok I decided to install 4 cables, new twin tuner and new LNB(s).

I like quality, any suggestions are welcome

Is something like this a good idea at all?

It would save me a lot of work.

The total length from my dish to the receiver is 6-8 metres.
