SF8_HD - Channel switch delay (my solution)

Hopefully i'm posting in the right place.

Recently i bought an SF8 with Vix image pre-flashed. I noticed after setup that changing channels had a significant delay, in some cases taking upto 10 seconds to change. Menu navigation was also a bit sluggish.

In order to try and fix this i reflashed the suggested image for the Octagon SF8_HD, However the problem continued.

After a week or so i have discovered how to fix this issue:

Menu/setup/system/VFD_SF8 - Change option to 'always off' snd hey presto.

I'm not sure why this happens. I note that the recommended file to be flashed to the SF8 has a folder named something like 'XP1000' which i believe is an earlier model of the SF8 (which doesnt have a VFD on the unit) therefore perhaps the cause of this problem in some way.

Anyway, just my own personal experience which i hope helps others out. (Not sure whether i'm an isolated case).

Would be good if someone involved with the images/boxes can take a look at this.

10 secs? mine is pretty fast (faster than GB 800UE+) TBH never noticed any lag

I've never had such an issues, please enable logs and post them in ViX support section.

Do you have a HDD connected by any chance? Picons anywhere?

Yeah mate around 10 secs until i made that change. What option is your box set to under VFD_SF8? This is what made all the difference for me.

No mate, this was without picons, hdd, or usb. I even reflashed and made sure from start. It was the setting described above under VFD_SF8 that fixed the issue for me. What is your box set to under this menu?

Mine has a similar lag zapping channels and in menus so I will try this tonight and report back. I do have a 500gb HDD attached but no picons.

Yes mate, let me know. It was driving me crazy to the point of little sleep lol.

Works like a dream now though but with no display (not that i care).

Just to update, got the Mrs to try it and apparently it has worked! Great news as the lag was driving me crazy. Cheers op.

Wonder why this happens. Some folks seem not tonhave an issue. If anyone explains how i can post a log the i'm happy to do so. I presume this would be in its 'non-working' state?

I'll try this later had a new box SF8 Silver version, crashes on double pressing the epg button each time no matter what skins in use, hopfully this will fix! did seem slowish also, will post back

Sorry mate. I have read it but i wasnt sure if it was even a vix issue? Is it?

The forums not the easiest to navigate for a new person even when reading that thread. I even said on another forum that i was going to post here but unsure of what section lol.
