do you have signal on your scart cable? plug it into a tvset to check.
do you have signal on the scart out of your Mercury? 2e scart to tvset.
Has the tv plugged into the Mercury TV/vcr out some kind of signal on the channel the Mercury is 'broadcasting'? With on scart plugged-in it should be black image instead of 'snow'.
