    Questions on CrossEPG on Solo.

I switched to Crossepg recently as there was an issue with the data feeds for rytec.

All is OK ish but have the following issues.

Sometimes the crossepg freezes regularly with Updating Sumaries on the screen.
Its fine on my DUO so I remember somewhere about copying the EPG.DAT automatically from one device to another and re-loading..
Cant remember where I saw it.
Anyone tell me how this works...

The second issue is Im using the Cache Clear plugin and its a big help.
But is there any way to stop the popup box from appearing. Its a bit offputting.

    Ta

To follow up on my original question.

Does anyone copy the EPG.dat from main receiver to other recivers rather than downloading on each of them from internet.
I have 2 solos and they regularly have issues with crossepg and rytec downloading.

Over the weekend I did manual crossepg update on DUO, then did save epg and copied the epg.dat to solo and did load epg on it and it worked a treat.

Does any one use scripts to perform the above tasks that I could use.

Just use an USB STICK to set up swap memory (64 MB is sufficeint); without this, many many troubles wirh EPG on SOLO
Set the USB STICK to save the EPG data
    No more problem

Correct: it has been advised over and over again to use a swap-file for Cross on boxes that are low on RAM.

To be fair, I've used 2 original Solos for a year to 2 years.
Using CrossEPG, OpenTV providers, Sky UK OpenTV (Astra2 on 28.2) on automated nightly updates & I can probably count on one hand the amount of times either box crapped out...

Can imagine using more sources might require the use of a swap file though...

Lads I already have that... Always had swap on usb (64mb) enabled.
I also have cacheflush enabled every 30 mins.
The only plugin (I rarely use it) is OnDemand.

Even with swap I dont think it has enough juice. No issue on DUO, thats why I wondered if easy to set a script to save epg on duo and copy to solo and load...

Not sure how well this will work, but worth a try...
Mount the Duo HDD on the solo, use that location on the solo for reading EPG & set EPG Automatic refresh to yes, every 24 hours.
Then only download the EPG data on the DUO.
Can't see how it would make much of a difference though...

Is it ok to use a swapfile on a hard drive or usb drive?
Or could I use both via a usb port expander

No idea what you mean by 'port expander', but swap on internal HDD, external HDD and USB-stick are all fine.
When the swap is set up via the build-in swap manager, the settings are such that the swap-file will only be used when really needed.
