Cant say Id be rushing out to buy one. The screen looks horrendous to me. That would just distract me when watching TV.
Improved specs I guess but happy with my current Duo to be honest. Would need more info to convince me of an upgrade.
What do others think?
Exactly the same: would need more info to convince me of an upgrade.
It all depends on what the higher CPU-specs actually do for us. The only thing I can think of, is that it could be a full media=player. For 'normal' STB-use our 400MHz boxes are fully capable.
And we also experienced in the past 2 years that software making is not VU's stronghold.
And I'm also curious to know what a higher specced CPU means in terms of power consumption. Our present boxes already use up to 60W (over 20W during standby), so I'm afraid this will only get worse.
So we'll have to wait and see what this year will bring us.

1.2 channel master/quad feedhorn/36volt /vbox
1 fixed dish, and 1 motorized 1mtr dish
and a pile of redundant cards/cams
im not too worried about the screen as my box is out of the way... more importantly formme is if the vu has the same sensitivity with the remote control...currently i can change channels easily without clear line of sight using my harmony.
Attached some info on the Broadcom chip used for the Solo2/DUO2.

That's correct: the PrismCube boxes are designed to run XMBC4STB. The Solo-2/DUO-2 will run Enigma2.

I think what I'm hoping for is an xbmc add-on to run under Enigma 2. As I understand it, that isn't possible for the Duo at the moment because of a lack of codec support (or something), but I thought maybe, with the faster processor of the Duo2, or some other associated hardware/firmware upgrade, that this could be possible. I'm just looking for a media player that supports a wider range of formats, and does so reliably, and would rather have my Duo (or Duo 2) do it than have yet another box connected. The Duo is fine for .TS files, but with MP4 or AVI, I have problems. It's not a huge deal though - the vast majority of my library is still in .TS format.
XMBC is not going to be an 'add-in' to Enigma.
As for media-support: as far as I understand it, the Solo-2/DUO-2 will be able to do a better job there than the present boxes. In the present generation all codecs are in hardware; it looks like the new CPU will be able to support (a number of) software codecs as well. And I think re-coding can also be done in the new hardware.
