help needed dish wont move also tune fail

1- No point in messing about with the "preferred tuner" setting: just leave it to the default (= auto) and the tuner with the least number of satellites will be preferred by the system.
2- Not quite sure, but I think basilyoung is pointing in the direction of a possible tuner problem. Tuners can deliver up to 400mA to the coax (= to the motor + LNB in your case); especially on start moving currents may be higher for a moment. Normally the tuner is protected for that, but of course such a protection could fail. So indeed I would swap feeds, and see if tuner A on the fixed dish works fine. And if not, I wouldn't dare connecting the motor to tuner B.......
3- Not sure what the setting "use current measurement" on the ET's does exactly, but maybe it's worthwhile turning that to off.

Sounds very similar to the problems i was having............My suggestion if all else fails is....This worked for me.......

Set Tuner A to Advanced....Sat. Astra 28.2...Lnb 28.....diseCq 1.2.....position 28.....Sat 19.2...Lnb 19....diseqc 1.2...position 19....etc. etc.

Set Tuner B to Single Satellite...Astra 28.2

I had Tuner B set at...Advanced...Tuner Failed...Same as Tuner A....Tuner Failed..etc..etc.

When I connected my fixed dish to Tuner B and set it to Single satellite....Everything worked Fine

hi guys update
over the weekend i disconnected the motor cables and just used the fixed dish cable on tuner a, this was ok no tune fail so fixed dish is ok, then i put my motorised back on to tuner A again tuner seemed fine all channels worked i then set the usals etc with simple setup, then tryed find sat, there was no signal showing on the signal bars, but keep in mind all the channels worked fine before i went to find sat, i disconnected the cable reconnected it and as soon as i connected it signal bars came up, i then tryed to find sat hotbird, again dish never moved stayed on 28e and the signal bars as gone disconnected the cable from the box just enough to loose contact then put it back in signal back tryed to move the dish no success.
then i thought ok maybe the dish motor as gone down and this then is pulling the signal down, so i put my spider box on the same cable and it works perfect goes to all sats,the other thing i did try is when the xtrend 9200 is connected i went outside and tryed moving the dish by pressing the little buttons on the motor that dont work either.

my own thinking is either the xtrent is faulty or the image as corrupted or a plugin as stopped it working,
i tryed using a backup i made of the image but this as caused even more issues as now my movies and sports wont clear which, checked the ccam+oscam 2.31-6189 was still working ok which it was again i have tryed alday yesterday to sort this, replaced my known working configs

lost for ideas now apart from doing a fresh install of everything.

What motor do you have? This could be a motor compatibility issue. I'd be very, very surprised if the unit turns out to be faulty.

I've would re-flash and start from fresh. I'd also try and run a temporary decent quality coax to the the motor and try again. Also leave 'Use power measurement to 'no'.

As a last resort if you really want piece of mind contact where you purchased and ask them to test the unit for you.

its very frustrating, it was all working fine when i first installed from new, only had the box since new year im starting regretting bying it now got one of these because they have a good right up, i was thinking of replacing the motor for a supreme alsat or a technomate which i think i have already got to be honest, if it was a motor issue would this not have shown up from day one ?

i just seem to have quite a few little bugs cant seem to find the answers to, i do understand that all software can have bugs and they get sorted with updates so maybe some of my issues will get sorted after a few updates who knows,

!!!!!!! oh and my lack of knowledge with linux boxes dont help lol

if i do go for a new motor any sugestions to what to choose

also any idea why i have lost my movies,sports

yes it does use usals and i also used the same settings lat longs in my new box which like i said in prev posts worked fine at first

also at the moment i have left the 9200 just on the fixed dish and been using the spider for motor dish just to make sure there is no intermittant faults with the motor

I have used a ET5 with a motor and will try and test the ET9 as need coaxial to run lead to it.

It might be worth going into the positioner and removing limits and trying to send the motor to zero that way you will know if it is communicating with each other.

tryed both tuners same result
im pretty confident its not the cable or motor, unless it is a compatibilty issue with my motor
that side of things im quite good at, fitted the dish my self many years ago but then it had the old actuator type of motor, changed to the 1.2 motor about 2 years ago

its just getting my head round linux, its quite different to the technomate, echostar way of thinking which im used to lol.

Stanman i have also tryed that turned limits off still wont move, i think i read that the motor stores the info on limits not the satbox but that maybe the very latest motors not to sure,

think im going to do a full new installation reflash the box will this have to be done on mem stick as before
and how do i wipe it clean to start fresh

Just down the image and put onto root of mem stick and power down box, stick it in and power backup and press Ok when prompted. Make sure no other mem sticks are in there.

Back up your config files and settings before you reflash.

Depending on your current image you may need to do bootloader flash to use very latest vix - if you do flash the BL, you will NOT be able to use old images.
