If anyone who is using 4.1.016 and want to use latest build simply FTP drivers from older image to new. Drivers are in /lib/modules/4.4.8/extra, save ALL four .ko files to your pc. FTP to new image and reboot the receiver.

The ET8500 is nowhere near end of life and I can assure Xtrend are actively working on all issues we've reported.

I referred to it as I believe it was alluded to on previous page. I appreciate that they are investigating the problem but as I said and repeat we can't move forward with >4.1.6 until the matter is resolved. So, users will not be able to make use of new features such as channel numbering, fan control that appeared in V4.2
Anyway, at least my post is related to Xtrend 8500, others are rambling on about Mutants!

As I posted before, nothing stopping users FTP'ing drivers from old image to new.

Yes , but aren't the drivers overwritten each time an online update is carried out or only when reflashed?

Please excuse me if I ask two really stupid questions, I've been suffering the recording issue myself for weeks and looking for any thread that mentions it for latest news, I found this thread today. So my questions (well, more 1 question, 1 suggestion) are:

    1. Given that you are I'm sure really busy would it not be an idea to put a sticky thread in the Xtrend8500 section that can be used to provide the latest info on the issue? It would make it easier to find and stop people like myself starting new threads for the same problem.

    2. If it is easy enough to ftp the old drivers across onto the new image, could the team release an updated version of the Vix image for the 8500 that includes the old drivers? Obviously I have no idea of the way the updates are managed so there could be a myriad of reasons but on the surface it seems like a reasonable idea!

Anyway, I'm sure we all appreciate the work you guys do and we realise that the correct solution is largely out of your hands, it's a shame that Xtrend seem to be taking their time sorting it out.

A work around build won't be feasible. Do what has been suggested, replacing the older drivers with the latest builds. I had to do a similar thing with the Solo 4K earlier this year until Vu+ sorted the driver issues. Doesn't take two mins to ftp the drivers over. Its a good workaround until Xtrend resolves your issues.

If you use filezilla you will see the lib folder, then modules, then 4.4.8, then extra. Just double click on the relevant folders in that order till you get to extra and delete the new drivers and replace with the old ones.
