Use of asecond box as slave to ET10000?

I have an Xtrend ET10000 installed in my main TV room upstairs and am extremely satisfied with Openvix and with my settings. The box presently has 2 cable tuners, 2 satellite tuners and a hard disk.

If possible I would like to be able to watch exactly the same configuration on a second TV downstairs. There are various threads on the forum about second boxes, but the possibilities of a second box are a bit unclear to me. Ideally I would like to have an additional enigma box on the second TV that would be a "slave" to the ET10000, with its 4 tuners. I would like to access the same bouquets and control the upstairs ET10000 box completely from the new downstairs slave box. Is this possible and does it work well? If so, what would be the minimum configuration that I would need downstairs and what would be a good choice of slave box?

Presently I can view hdmi from the upstairs box on the downstairs TV via a CAT5 video transport cable, but I cannot control the box properly with the remote.

I would be grateful for any advice.

I have my "test" ET8500 in my office with 3 tuners +HDD, a 2nd ET8500 (2 tuners +HDD) in the lounge and a ET7500 (with 1 onboard tuner but not used) in the cellar bedroom.
All 3 receivers are connected to my Lan, both ET8500's have sat connections to all tuners.

I use the same Bouquets on all 3 receivers ( I tend to update the Office receiver, manipulate and write back all bouquets in 1 go using Echannelizer).
The ET7500 uses fallback receiver usually to the Office receiver, which works perfectly.

I am aware that some people have had issues between Xtrend and Vu receivers using fallback receiver and Rscs plugin, so I would suggest you go for the ET7500 if it is still available - its a no thrills receiver that just works..... otherwise I would suggest the Vu+ Zero.

As you will see from my signature, I use SimpleControl (an Ipad app) to control my setups from anywhere in the house (and although I have not tried it) apparently remotely from a different location (these rich Americans with multiple homes!) .
It has recently become more expensive, they seem to be expanding their horizons to take over the world
So I have 3 configs to control the hardware at each location, which as they are all connected by Lan, I can do relatively easily.

Very many thanks Twol. My ET10000 is connected to my LAN and WAN. As I understand it you would recommend purchasing an ET7500 without hard disk and even without tuner?

It comes with an onboard tuner (so you get one by default )
I think the Vu+ zero is a really good box, but just trying to give you a no problems solution
I run crossepg+xlmtv importer on the ET8500's for UK+German epg, and just xlmtv importer on the ET7500

Ref the app, although I obviously can switch on/off equipment remotely, getting it to say record would be a bit more blind faith e.g bring up the epg, type in the channel number and enter, then hit record ... but asking a lot to be on the program and although I can handle the Panny tvs remotely via IP address, the 4K monitor in the office needs to be powered on/off.
Maybe the Web interface is another angle for you to look at controliing the ET10000 remotely

Edision - yes, good point, I had forgotten this box which gets really good ratings - and they actually fix things wrong on the box
