    Help Logging into ET 8500

    Hello All,

I have tried to log into the box using Dreambx edit to update the boquets, couldnt connect. tried to telnet into the box got connection refused, couldnt FTP into box either - same message. Restarted GUI same thing happened.

Done a full restart and box is responding okay. What would prevent me logging in -is it just a simple software issue, hopefully nothing worse,,,,???

    Thoughts?

    James.

Are you using "root" for your username and leaving the password blank?

I alwys change my password to prevent any unwanted intrusions.

User / pass where correct. But the error message was saying, connection refused.

Its okay now after a hard restart. Just not sure what would cause this.

Just one of those things that tends to happen from time to time. Especially if you have not rebooted the receiver in a while.

On another note, you do know that even with a password set your box is not really secure ?. Yes it's always a good idea to set a password but don't think your receiver is safe just because you set one.
