Added second cable tuner but I am getting bad picture.

I have a Gigablue with 2 sat tuners and now have 2 cable tuners.

So I got a new 3 way splitter 5-1000mhz , removed the old one , new cable to the new tuner.
When watching a channel , the picture brakes up/distorted every few seconds. Changing back to the old splitter, it's fine again but obviously only has 2 way (one for broadband and one for the tuner).

The cable its fine too and the tuner works , as i can record while watching another channel.

Any ideas???

The cable tuners have in / out sockets - you can loop the output of one tuner to the input of the second and avoid the need for the external splitter. You will still be able to record whatever you want on whichever tuner.

A good quality two way passive splitter has a typical insertion loss of 4.7dB (each output = approx 0.6 of the input voltage)
A good quality three way passive splitter has a typical insertion loss of 7.5dB (each output = approx 0.4 of the input voltage)

There is a LOT less signal coming out of a 3 way splitter compared with the signal coming out of your 2 way splitter. The signal level output from the 3 way is not enough for reliable operation.

Most terrestrial tuners a have an aerial input and aerial output. Take one output from the 2 way splitter and feed it into the tuner input. Make/buy a short cable of a 50 to 100mm and connect the aerial output from the first tuner to the input of the second tuner. (The cable only needs to be a 50/100mm for cosmetic/tidy reasons - you could use a cable of a couple of metres if you want)
