    tuners question

Hi I am just wondering what the benefits of anything above a twin tuner is.
Obviously a twin tuner allows to watch one channel whilst recording another, do triple and quad tuners extend that further (and if so is it just adding the ability to record another extra channel per extra tuner) or am I missing something extra that they provide?

A tuner is needed for each transponder you need to tune.So that includes watching, recording, downloading EPG, streaming, etc. I've got 4 satellite tuners. Means the kids can watch on the tablet in another room, missus can be recording, I can be watching and the EPG can be downloading all at the same time.

Also you have to remember timer conflicts due to overlap. To record a show that runs from 7-8pm and another show that runs 8-9pm requires 2 tuners, not one. If you try to do that on a 2 tuner box it will zap from the viewed service to the 2nd recorded service just before 8pm, and your viewing will be interrupted.

Ok that's a lot of help thanks. I think I'm best taking the plunge on the Xtrend et8000 with two dvb s2 which should be fine for me.
Thanks for your assistance with my question, much appreciated!
