    VU+ Keyboard not working properly

    Vu+ Ultimo

    OpenViX: Apollo
    Version: 153
    Drivers: 2015-03-02
    Kernel: 3.9.6
    GStreamer: 0.10.36(GIT)
    Python: 2.7.3
    Installed: 2014-11-04
    Latest update: 2015-03-03

    plugins installed
    - 3G/4G Model Manager
    - CrossEPG Donwloader
    - Firmware Upgrade
    - GoogleNews Reader
    - IPTV List Updater
    - Image Viewer
    - LiveBootBall
    - Media Scanner
    - MediaPortal
    - OpenWebif
    - Opera Web Browser
    - SuomiMedia (manually installed)
    - YouTube TV Settings
    - sundtek control center plugin

    Settings (translated from finnish, so not sure are those correct terms)
    - Input devices: dreambox advanced remote control (native)
    - Keyboard > Layout: Default (US) (tried also others)
    - Remote code > System code: 2
    - Remote Code > Text support: No

    The Ultimo is located in Finland.

    brief description of the problem
    ================================
    This error came when I installed Apollo 073 version (18.11.2014).
    Before that keyboard worked properly.

    Unable to use VU+ remote control keyboard properly.
    > Unable to setup log setting (username & email)
    > Unable to use keyboard to search programs

    a detailed run down of how to replicate the problem
    ================================================== =
    - Push yellow button to make search
    - Use keyboard >>
    - Push lock button
    - when pressing buttons nothing happens except:
    - Arrow buttons work
    - Backspace work
    - ok button work
    - when lock button is pressed, red light blinks

    = Settings > Log settings
    = Try to set forum username and email: evey button causes "|" characters to apper to the input field
    >> 29.11.2014 This "|" error was confirmed also from other user, he was using Duo2 and little older Apollo < 073

    It would be great to get keyboard working. If that is not possible, could I get information where log configuration files are located and those format, that I could manually edit those to have my settings. That I could send bug reports directly from the box.

    Thanks!

    Under kernel 3.9.6 Ultimo RC keyboard doesn't work in any image except VTi. Nor does USB keyboard. If you want it fixed you could try putting in another bug report on Vu+ site.

    Wow! Can I take the opportunity to commend you on the presentation of your issue.

    To be honest, crash logs are better off being attached to threads instead of being emailed.

    Since you have asked, the answer to your question is that the configuration is kept in the "settings" file located in /etc/enigma2/ You must put Enigma to sleep first before editing it. Telnet commannd "init 4"

    Code:
    config.crash.sizeloglimit=10
    config.crash.enabledebug=true
    config.crash.debugloglimit=4
    config.crash.daysloglimit=8
    config.logmanager.useremail=email address
    config.logmanager.user=username

    Thank you very much of your help, you are the best!

    I made bug report to VU+, let's see what they comment. Thanks to Abu answering my second question, I have now successfully updated the email and the username information to the log configuration.

    Keep up the good work!

    Am quite interested to see the Keyboard work on Vu+ Duo2. Though I like the original remote that came with the Duo2, am starting to enjoy using this small replacement remote. And if the keyboard could work, especially when searching for movies on TSMedia, then that would really help.

    Keep up the work and let us know what they say about what Vu+ says about getting this to work. Good work..

    More people complaining means greater chance of a fix. So post a bug report.
