    There might be someone else worth the same model TV. There's been a few discussions on how to enable develop mode.

    Been using this HDMI with IR extender down 1 cat5 cable

    , works well with my Solo2 , box in downstairs living room, HDMI split and extended to bedroom where box can also be controlled from. Just need to get a 2nd remote for the bedroom.

    Had the same problem. You can install vu player app in android phone, and control satellite downstairs with this.
    Then mirror stream from phone to Samsung smart TV. Ps I had bother getting Samsung to pick up my mobile until I installed another app in the mobile called Wifi Display (Mira cast).
    Think this would also work with other smart TVs.

    How about an android box or similar with xbmc.
