    2nd tuner set up help

Hi I have a TM twin running VIX for the last couple of years and have always set my 2nd tuner up as second cable of motorised lnb tuner A.

So is this correct as it is only tuner A that moves the lnb, should it not be equal to tuner A.

Reason for asking is on a clean instal crossepg seems to work fine before I put in any settings ( I get small window with the VIX background when downloading) then after inputting any type of channel settings I get a black screen with the small update window when updating.

    Thanks

What is your physical dish/lnb setup. You would use 2nd cable of motorised lnb when your physical set up is like attached.

AFAIK, you would use "Equal to" when both are the same. i.e Motorsied dish on tuner A and a separate motorsed dish on tuner B

No it does not mean it should be configured the same as tuner A. If it was the same as tuner A, It would be able to move the motor.

One tuner is connected to a motorised dish and can move it.
Another tuner is connected to 2nd port of a motorised LNB. It cannot control the motor.

Lose tuner when updating autoboquets maker & cross epg

Hi I get a black screen with the small window saying what's happening at the top of the screen but no tuner picture in the back ground.

I have a twin lnb and motor set up as follows.

    Tuner A positioner: USALS
Tuner B second cable of motorised LNB Tuner A

Is this correct and should I lose my picture when updating ?

    Thanks

I cant tell you if this is correct, however a quick test would be to either check the signal on each tuner, or record a channel and see if any others are tunable?

Stan man doesn't matter which channels I am on it happens all the time, say for a test on 28e tuner A on BBC one Scotland HD watching live and set a recording on more4 +1 so both tuners in use and try auto bouquet maker just now and I get "cannot free NIM because a recording is in progress and now the same with cross epg.

Hope this helps with my problem ?

    Thanks

Lose tuner when updating autoboquets maker &

ABM an CrossEPG need sole access to a physical tuner. IIRC, looped tuners and 2nd cable of motorised are not valid options as you do not have sole access to LNB.

Dish could be pointed elsewhere or LNB could be switched to different polarity/band.

It will work OK if the active tuner is the 2nd cable. ABM/CrossEPG will use the controllable tuner.

If the active tuner is the controllable one, it wont work. ABM has been programmed not to use "uncertain tuners" because it is hit and miss.

It can't be fixed, it is by design. I gave the reasons in last paragraph of post 6 and 8.

Set your preferred tuner as B. That way, A will be free more of the time.
