    NTFS Timeshift?

I have set up a friend's box and he currently has a NTFS USB HDD which he uses for films and recordings from channels. However, when I tried to set up timeshift it states the HDD must be EXT2 3 or 4. All the drivers are installed for NTFS and FAT32. Is there a way around this otherwise this function is not available. Surely it's not down to speed.

It will not be possible to format the HDD as it has nearly 300GB of contents.

    Cheers,

    Bal

Timeshift uses hardlinks: they are not supported on NTFS (nor on FAT).
So for timeshift you do indeed need an device formatted in Ext3/4.

Well that's annoying. Will this always be the case?

Or add an USB stick for that purpose.

I think the GigaBlue only has one USB at the rear which is occupied by the HDD.

    Ah, OK.
If important an USB-hub could be used then.
