Astra Deutschland’s HD+ platform had 761,456 paying customers at the end of September, an increase of 127,000 during the third quarter.

A year ago, on September 30, 2011, HD+ had 267,289 paying homes. The company said it hopes to have over one million paying household by the end of the year.

At the moment, there are 2,800,631 active HD+ households, but the majority (2,039,175 homes) is still enjoying the first prepaid period of twelve months. A year ago, the total number of active homes, both paying and free, was 1,929,524.

During the month of September, more than 70% of all satellite HD receivers sold in Germany were HD+ compatible according to HD+ managing director Wilfried Urner. this includes bith Sky+ and HD+ receivers.

At the moment, the German HD+ platform offers 14 private HD channels: RTL HD, Sat 1 HD, Pro Sieben HD, Vox HD, Kabel Eins HD, RTL 2 HD, Super RTL HD, N 24 HD, Tele 5 HD, Sport 1 HD, DMAX HD, Nickelodeon HD, Sixx HD and Comedy Central HD.
