House rules, simple, if its a big deal, there is no need to accept, just go else where

if your house is a non smoking enviroment, and 10 smokers visit, and demand a vote what would your reply be?

Password reset has now been set back to 90 days accross ALL usergroups.

A couple of months back I set General member's to password expire every 30 days from 90 days due to two reports of a couple of account being hacked. These couple of accounts where using the same passwords here as in another Card sharing forum that I will not name. This resulted in a spam bot posting some C line finder/card sharing software stuff.

Password expiry will never be removed, pointless comparing to banks as bank have other security measures in place, not just username and password.

This also helps stop spam bot's that register and don't post for a while. Bot's cannot change passwords once expired, but my main reason is to hopefully stop what happened to the two reported members above. Too many users use the same password here as they do on other forums.

As a recent example I banned a user for spamming, but it turned out that his account had been hacked and he was subsequently reinstated.
Password changing is a small part of the overall site security measures, just because someone cannot see the need for it does not mean there isnt one.
Site security is not based upon a democratic opinion, it is what it is and I dont see the need to have to justify it to anyone.

fair point. It just rattled my cage because I couldn't get access from tapatalk due to an expired password. Though in hindsight I could have just set it to not log in.

A forced password change is not an additional security measure, it's the exact opposite - Because I can't use my password of choice I am forced to write it down to remember it!

All the talk about keyloggers/hacking is spurious, as they will pick up a new password anyway!

Totally daft idea and more than totally useless. Paypal used to do this and even they have now changed their policy (they discovered it increased account fraud).

    My 2 cents

    Spoooof

Well simple way round this if cant remember a simple password and that is going back into your account settings and change the password again.

    This is staying in place.
