Will the epg auto update work if the box is in standby?. I have mine to do 4.00am but the box goes to standby during the night and Im not sure how to turn standby off and Im not sure if the epg is updating properly.

Your STB should do a fresh download even in standby..
To find out if the download has completed.. .. Just press the red button while on any channel and check to see if you still have you full 7 day guide..
The box will automatically download even if in standby as long as you have it to download at a set time in CEPG configure screen.
