Sky Germany cuts churn, nets €300m

Sky Deutschland has confirmed it had passed the three million subscriber mark. The broadcaster has also secured €300 million of working capital, underwritten by parent News Corp.

The three million mark was actually passed just before the end of last year (3,012,000) although only confirmed on February 2nd. Its net subscriber growth was an impressive 359,000 during the year to December 31st, the highest-ever annual growth in the company’s history.

Perhaps most importantly Sky Germany’s churn is down, from 16.2 per cent a year ago to just 11 per cent in the annual period to December 31st. The growth spurt covers all metrics: Premium HDTV subs up 64 per cent (to 974,000), Sky+ up 411,000 (from 39,000 in 2010).
All PM,s asking about c/s on cable will be ignored and reported to forum staff!
