    Canal Digitaal phasing out Irdeto

The Dutch satellite DTH platform Canal Digitaal is phasing out Irdeto encryption, according to Dutch magazine Totaal TV.

The M7 Group said it will start next week switching off Irdeto encoding on two Belgian public channels, VRT Eén and Canvas/Ketnet, as well as on the adult Marcel Dorcel channel.

This is the first step of a complete migration to Mediaguard3 encryption. The move was previously announced by the platform operator. At a later date, more channels will be affected.

Current Irdeto smart card users will be informed about the upcoming changes by personal letter, which will also contain an offer to obtain a new satellite receiver.

At the moment, Canal Digitaal already encrypts a limited number of channels in Irdeto; with Mediaguard viewers will receive more channels at the same subsxription price.
All PM,s asking about c/s on cable will be ignored and reported to forum staff!
