    Which image for 500

A friend wants his reflashing but i have never owned a 500, only 800hd and vu duo.
Both these i used blackhole elite and know them well.
can i ftp image or use null modem and what image is recommend by current users and that as an easy interface as with the elite.
    Many thanks

Get your enigma 1 image then extract it now you have 2 ways to do this, 1 use a null modem serial cable via Universal DreamUp, or get the ip of the box and FTP the image over (rename it to : "root.cramfs" and make sure it has not got .img @ the end) to the Temp folder and flash it via the remote control in the menu of the 500 (select manual update).

PLI Images are most stable with the clone 500's im my experience.

Depending on the mac address you might be able to use any image. If itstarts with 00:09:34 you should be ok.

Sorry but am i missing something here.
    I have looked here: http://www.vuplus-support.co.uk/foru...x-DM500-Images
Nothing which states pli and nothing indicating a PLI page, only as in your other post you say not to use jade 3 yet in the link above they are posted as pli jade 3.
I am not going daft, i know how to do vu's and 800's this 500 is a new one to me, i know the basics around all boxes but this image thing is not standing out for me fella as info your passing is a tad confusing.
I dont expect to be spoon fed, but a simple link to the image i can use so as not to brick the box is all i ask my friend, the rest i can do.
    Best wishes

This links to the nightly openpli images which are really beta and not tested.
Is this a good image to put on a clone?

open pli beta works flowlessly better then any gemini

On a clone I put the latest open pli image: dm500 maxvar or simple dm500 openpli doesn't matter ... from here
It works better and quicker then Gemini images or even primitive, but simple Nabilo.
Web interface (webif) with vlc player works well and a lot better then original Gemini image. So streaming of DM500 on vlc is better on OpenPLI. Plugins also work well. There are updates of plugins, skins, satellites data... So a very good and last breath image for this old mashine - dm500s, whatever - clone, or original.
