experieced members advise pc viewing reciever at work/hotel ect....

This is something that I think will be useful to others and to me.
Ive recently set up a TM 500 s with a motorised dish and think the facility to watch the tv on your pc is great, however it cant be done out of your home unless you know how to set up static ip or dyns accounts and its quite hard if your like me and your not sure of the basic princibles.
I would like to ask the people on here who know there stuff to share with us all the way you would go about been able to watch your dreambox/technomate….ect… from holiday, work, mates pc whatever.
It would need to include dyns,d link or router settings and reciever settings step by step.

    Anyone up for it????????????

ok you ask quite a few question in one go

to help you any one on the forum can but we gonna need to break your questions down a little

first what router have you got

second what image are you using on dm500

there are many ways to achieve your goal

there is the pc way as you say and there is an andriod and iphone way too

firstly setup a dyndns account from dyndns website

    go into router setting 192.168.x.x
    enter admin user and password

then you should have something like dynamic ip or dynamic DNS
there you will input all the login details that you got from dyndns website including the address that you chose

once done you need to open ports

you should have something like local network or network settings or network toolbox
there you will select your dm500 ip and open the port 80 to it internal and external be 80 and TCP and UDP

    once thats done

you need to go into your dm500 settings / network and make sure webinterface is active and runnign on port 80

now just as you log into 192.168.x.x:80 as you go at home to access your box

you can now change that to

whatever.dyndns.org:80 and it will open for you

    any where anyhow

One other thing to note, is that unless you have a massive upload bandwidth, you're gonna have to transcode your stream so that it can fit in your upload bandwidth...

simple solution is to use a slingbox,

    you would still need a dns address ( no-ip.com or dns.org )
    Units; VU+Ultimo/duo/DM800/7020HD/tm9100
    1.2 channel master/quad feedhorn/36volt /vbox
1 fixed dish, and 1 motorized 1mtr dish
and a pile of redundant cards/cams
