Have you set a password in the Network Menu? Are you getting a prompt for user/password when you telnet to the box. The default used to be root/blank, but it's now root/whateveryousetup.

    thanks for the reply

i tried without password and then with a password i setup on the receiver and i get the following message

"Network Error: Permission Denied " ? in a pop up.
running putty on windows 10 via VM router , Gigablue , now with network password set connected to same router .

Sounds like a firewall permission or anti-virus setting is blocking your access to the Gigablue. You may have to dig around in your firewall settings in Win 10 to permit telnet/winscp to run. In Putty can you even ping the IP address of the GB box?

    Hi Joe
i have tried to ping my receiver using cmd prompt
    get 4 x general failure message ( 4 packets sent )
    Packets sent = 4 , Packets received = 0 lost = 4 ( 100% loss )

Recheck box ip to see if it is correct and lan is working.

Redo password on box with remote and save.

Try Filezilla with box ip and root and your password to see if that enters

Might you have another pc to try on as i had a connection error on laptop but went straight in on desktop.

Your modem is it locked out for connecting boxes to.

Would a wired network lan cable give direct access?

What do you mean by "debloated windows"? You could have well removed services that you need to connect with other devices.

To find the setting you may have to set expert mode
    menu/setup/system/customise settings/setup mode = expert

I think telnet is enabled by default, but you've checked and it is running. I'm pretty sure this is a Win 10 permissions/setting/firewall issue.

If you want to transfer a file to your receiver, you need an FTP client like Filezilla/WinSCP

See this post, although it refers to picons, process is the same. You would be transferring ipk to /tmp directory
