Hi TK, I've been using ABM since the very beginning and, with direct upload/download, there is no issue....

Perhaps, the reason might be the presence of a duplicated satellites.xml into the /etc/enigma2 folder instead of the right place (/etc/tuxbox): remove the satellites.xml from the /etc/enigma2 folder and verify if it solves the issue...

The crash is opening the bouquet file so it must be something in that file. Can't be sure which bouquet file is causing it though without adding some extra debug. So, may not be one of yours, but he says they are the only ones loaded.

He says: "I’ve upgraded to version 6, but running ABM is causing a crash. It’s a fresh flash without a setting or plug-in restore...... (it might be an issue with all settings)

...when I install a channel list from plugins it says channel list already exists (uhm, if I'm not wrong, E2 images always ask before updating an existing list)..."

Today, I'm trying to download my motor settings (with plugin) directly from OpenVix Repository, in order to rebuild his situation...

And that bit is nonsense because the debug log shows ABM crashes while opening one of the bouquet files.

If you can't reproduce it, it is probably not in your settings. In that case we can give the OP some debug to try to track it down.

Well, I've tried with several settings and different images/python releases. Some results:

    - With images based on python 2.x: no error at all

    - With images based on python 3.x: there is the same error both on other settings and mine

The possible issue might be related with Latin-1/Cyrillic and other non UTF-8 encodings.

I know that, differently from 2.x, Python 3.x is more sensitive on encodings: maybe, a change like : "file = open(filename, encoding="utf8")" or open the file with "open(filename, 'rb')"
(binary mode) can help to solve the issue with particular alphabets.

Anyway, I'm trying to sort out all wrong characters: do you know if there is a method to find the specific positions/file/lines mentioned into log message?

    Thx

Nothing should be in those files that is not UTF8 so maybe test with that.
