WD20EARS working perfectly you need to use 2 jumpers to get it to work (5-6 + 7-8)
    http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/...id/1679#jumper

Runs cool & very quiet on an external esata docking station

Anyone know if higher capacity drives could be partioned in future eg 3TB single to 2 x 1.5TB partitions?

    No m8,
Just unwrappedd new drive and installed as I got it.
Had it all connected up and fitted back in my cabinet before I tried it.
Was too lazy take it back out, so tried "control centre" and that formatted fine and works fine, so that will do me.

Ah right you do need to put the jumpers on the drive, if the future you wanted to format in the ET9000 ... see my earlier post
