    Network memory

I have network shares on two different Synology NAS boxes, one for my (default) recordings and the other for Management's recordings. Some of her recordings are made to her share but others are made to mine. I'm also seeing 'Disk full?' errors from time-to-time despite there being at least 8TB free on both along with a very brief message to the effect that the recording location is unavailable and so it will be made elsewhere.

In addition, I have set up another share for Management on 'my' NAS but, although it appears to mount successfully, the Vu+ doesn't see it when I try to add it to the recording locations. In fact the previous share is still shown despite changing its name on the server from /media/autofs/username/movie/ to /media/autofs/username/media/.

Looking at the shares through the Browse Network Neighbourhood option I can see IP addresses against the shares which reference the different enigma2 boxes on the network: 192.168.178.129 192.168.178.23, 192.168.178.46 and my laptop at 192.168.178.74. Is this as it should be? They all have static IP addresses.

Anyone able to say what I've got wrong please?

I've managed to see more of the message referenced above: 'previously selected media could not be accessed and therefore the default directory is being used instead'. Does that offer a solution to some recordings going to the wrong share?

How are you accessing the synology ( I typically use nfs) and do you have file access setup correctly on the synology for all the file shares from your receiver(s)

They're NFS shares and I've set up read/write access for each of the receivers. I think the problem is related to how the Vu+ (I'm setting everything up from the one receiver) is holding onto old information on shares. There's one share showing that had a misspelt name on the Vu+ when I set it up (finger trouble) and which I deleted when I noticed it. It never existed on the NAS but it's still showing on the Vu+ despite being deleted on there.

If you make changes then make sure that the settings backup is updated.
probably stupid question… but have you checked that ip access is correct on synology or do you use a blanket ip range?

I've a habit of backing up settings and the image each time I make a change I wouldn't want to lose. I'll back up settings, but not the image, when I've changed timers. There's also scheduled weekly settings and image backups.

Each receiver is listed separately on the NASs: 192.168.178.**1, 192.168.178.**2, 192.168.178.**3.

The shares on the receivers reference the relevant NAS: 192.168.178.??1 (volume1/Mine) and 192.168.178.??2 (volume1/Hers). The / is missing when I use the browse the network option on the receiver.

I've been able to sort out the share issues but am still seeing the 'Disk full' error and am getting what appears to be buffering with rotating VIX logo at top left. Anyone any thoughts?

Assuming your wife uses a different receiver for her recordings and a different NAS box(?) then it should work providing the NAS is set as the HDD.-----I have just tested and its working OK with one box recording to volume1/gbquad4k/movie and the other volume1/gbue4k/movie (on same NAS but splitting is not an issue)
What i don't understand is how she sometimes records to your Movies directory as well as her own.

Thanks for the checking out on your NAS.

OK, my setup is no doubt confusing so...
The Vu+ does all the recording using two FBC tuners connected one to the other with a splitter, 'my' recordings go to 'NAS 2' (192.168.178.101) and 'Management's' go to 'NAS 3' 192.168.178.103).

She has a zGemmaH7 in two different rooms. Neither records, they get her recordings from 'NAS 3'.

All of the network shares (NFS) are marked as No against 'Use as HDD replacement' which I've always thought to be odd but have previously been assured that that is how it should be (should it?).

So if the vu+ does all the recordings how does it know which NAS to record to, as there is only one recording location?

Mine go to the default location and I use the 'Use a custom location' option to set her network share for the others.

Good to know you've worked it out. You can use the hard drive as one of the alternative locations and it works for instant, single and series record.

I need now to discover why I'm seeing the disk full error and the failed recordings I'm seeing.

Just for peace of mind, should 'Use as HDD replacement' be set as 'Yes' or 'No'?

If you set it to hdd, then that share will become your HDD and hold all the system files like backups timeshare files etc etc ------> does mean one of you will never have to do anything as it holds the default movie folder.
