    Starting at feed huntingh

    Hi all,

I'm interesting in doing some feed hunting and am interesting in getting a receiver with good blind scan capabilities.

I currently have the Zgemma H7S, which I know has a blind scan, but I don't think it's going to win any prizes in blind scanning from my research.

Does anyone have any recommendations on good receivers that can be readily purchased which will be good at blind scanning at a reasonable price please?

Assuming you have a motorized dish and what size might have a bearing of what you want to search for.

    Hi,

Yes, aware of the dish size, however happy to try and find what feeds I can with the dish I have.

What receivers would people recommend for blind searching?

FTA receivers with a decent DVB-S/S2 blindscan are hard to find. I would suggest the Octagon SF8008 Supreme or the Uclan Ustym 4K Pro.

I find a few feeds with my Zgemma H7S, even though I only have access to a fixed 28.2°E dish.
On the H7S blindscan seems to work better if you scan only small portions of the band at a time.
Since the main place for feeds on 28.2°E is 12400 to 12750 MHz. I usually just scan that.
    It's best at the weekend.
Some of what I've found is on my Youtube channel.

Zgemma H7S, Fixed 28.2°E dish, Freeview (Hannington). ABM Providers: [Sky UK; Thames Valley SD Custom; HD swap], [Freeview (UK); Berks and North Hants]
