    Not recording - Random.

Hi all , So I have a recording set for everyday for the wifes casualty. Its record most of them but then I have had 2 that have not recorded. If I FTP onto the Vu+ it gives me this :-

    Capture.jpg

Both dates have the CUTS & META , But only the one from yesterday has the TS.AP & TS so there is no video file.

If I look at the box it tells me that the recording is complete :-

    Capture33.jpg

I have checked its not it the deleted in case her indoors was deleting but she does not delete the ones she has watched let alone the ones she hasn't ! lol

    Any help appreciated ,

    Dave.

ADDITIONAL :- Where the hell is the trashcan folder in FTP ?? I assumed it was :- /hdd/movie/trashcan but not there (I normally look in the trashcan on the PVR screen)

The folder name is ".Trash" (without the quotation marks) and not just Trash

It's called Deleted items on the box (Trash can)

If you have Samba enabled, in windows network it will show up as .Trash but only if you go to the windows menu bar and select show hidden items

You've only shown 6 files, and they appear to be sorted by increasing size(?). Sorting by name woudl make things more clear.

The .trash folder is not in the movie folder - it is in the root of the hard drive. I would suggest using an ftp program like filezilla to access the box (enable showing hidden files on the server tab of the program). Also it would be helpful if you enabled debug logs on your stb and upload the logs after a failed recording otherwise everyone is just guessing at the issue.

WIll have to look at filezilla I normally use FTP on windwos, No biggy its clearly there I just cant see it for some reason.

Have logs turned on but there is never an error - The box says its recorded but there is no recording. It assumes its done the job correctly. Like everything in my life its another strange anomoly !

Any chance of uploading the debug logs then? Just stick them in a zip file before uploading

Thanks for that. There is a lot to go through there. It might be easier to set your logging to local time rather than boot time (in the logs menu) and upload a log that covers a FAILED recording (together with the recording time/details)

Except that doesn't show any missing files.

but there is a .Trash. It's mentioned in the top-line of the image you posted.

One of the logs you posted is odd.

Enigma2_debug_2023-05-19_18-05-41.log has a mod time of May 26 11:24 and, despite the timestamp in the name, appears to follow the other 5.

    It contains:
< 35.2679> [Timezones] Setting time zone to 'Europe/London'.
    < 35.2692> [Timezones] Local time is 'Fri 19-May-2023 18:05:48' - UTC time is 'Fri 19-May-2023 17:05:48'.
    then
< 45.3589> [eDVBLocalTimerHandler] dont have correction.. set Transponder Diff
    < 45.4690> [eDVBLocalTimerHandler] update RTC
    < 45.4693> [eDVBLocalTimerHandler] time update to 07:51:45
    < 45.4695> [eDVBLocalTimerHandler] m_time_difference is 567947
< 45.4698> [eDVBLocalTimerHandler] stepped Linux Time to 07:51:45
so something set the clock to be about 6.5 days behind at start-up.

Thats probably the issue - unreliable transponder time. I use NTP for sync and never have any issues
