    Stuck in boot loop

I have tred to use the device this evening and although the front panel was lit, the TV was telling me that the device was powered off.

I rebooted, and I can see that there is a message telling me err28 - no space left on the device, which is odd, because there was more than 75% free when I ast looked, so I guess it must not be the movies storage area which its complaining about. then it reboots and does the same again - it doesn't stay up for more than a few seconds

I can't get in via telnet, or openwebif. I would be reluctant to do a factory reset, unkess it's the only option..... any suggestions?

I hope you have done a settings backup - if so just reflash and restore settings (not plugins) and check it powers up. You can restore plugins later … and see what happens.
If no settings backup and you can not telnet into the box, then you are down to a clean flash

Is there anyway of getting the box back up (into the recovery menu?) without flashing from USB? I have OpenVix. OpenATV and another image "stored"
Also, I'd quite like to be able to check the logs to find out what went wrong, so I know how to avoid it in future - I didn't (as far as I know) get any warning of the impending doom....

I am assuming that you have a gbuhd4k or gbue4k if you have multiple images on the box ???
    So assuming gbue4K.....
If you cannot get telnet access then the box is in bad shape, so logs are probably not being stored during early boot up.
If you are using an internal HDD, it might be worth opening the box and removing the HDD connections - then stick a usb stick in the usb port and see if it boots... in which case its the HDD.
There is no recovery menu as such, unlike some of the zgemma boxes.
If you usb flash you should only lose the 1st slot (you used to lose all slots)
