Can you give the exact key sequence to get to this crash … and the langugage in use - obviously something is not utf-8 and is therefore causing a crash

We have Cyrillic alphabet. I think you're right. Encoding error. There is no mistake now. It works as expected. There must have been an unreadable character in the program.
