    Technomate Twin 4K help Please

    Hello

As an older member of the forum, I hope there is someone with knowledge to help me please.

My box is not accepting any USB images when I boot. I have tried 5 different USB sticks, various brands, all formatted to Fat 32. I downloaded the image files from the download links in this forum. I have tried version

    openvix-6.0.001.release-tmtwin4k_usb.zip
    right upto openvix-6.0.007.release-tmtwin4k_usb.zip
But no matter which I use or how many times I hit the Standby button after turning on it bypasses the USB and eventually goes to "Moving to 28.2 E and the dish picture" . But nothing.. It looks like even the remote does nothing even with new batteries. IE it wont turn the receiver off.

Is the box dead? I hope I have not lost all of my recordings.

Is there any really helpful person here that can give me a way of recovering the box. That would be so great

Thanks for taking time to read my woes.

    Kind Regards

    Box:
It's not dead. Just a software issue

    Recordings:
Recordings are on HDD, so they are not lost. Unless you forma/initialise the drive

    Remote:
Is the remote a multi-device remote and not in the receiver mode?
You can control the box using the openwebif remote. Put IP address of receiver on web browser, yo will get remote on left hand side of screen. If you don't know the IP address of receiver, you can check your router. Or try tmtwin4k.local

    Flashing Image:
I note your comments about remote. Please see above about OWIF remote. Have you tried to flash the image using Image Manager.
You can also flash using command line using Grog's script
    wget --no-check-certificate -O install_vix.sh https://www.dropbox.com/s/hc2cdr116l...ll_vix.sh?dl=1 && bash install_vix.sh

Standby button on the remote or the standby button on the box. You need to press the standby (on/off) button on the box.

    Try
Turn off at the mains switch for 2 minutes
Switch the box on via the mains switch
When the message appears on the TV screen press the standby button (on/off) button on the BOX

Try repartitioning and formatting your USB stick with BootIce, then follow the guide here https://www.openvix.co.uk/openvix-bu...-Twin%204K.pdf

    Hello
Thanks for all of your help so far. I am still working on it all. I tried reformatting the USB with BootIce and then extracting to the USB. The box was turned off for 20 minutes so when I turned it on again I bypassed the USB again. I am using the original remote from Technomate.
I have no idea of the IP address of the box. I tried IPConfig on the pc but did not get far.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Are you pressing the standby button when the prompt appears on the TV screen?

    Hello

I do not get a prompt on the screen so I tried pressing the Standby button as soon as I turn it on but no prompt is shown. Even using different USB sticks.

If you are not getting a prompt, it is not detecting the image on USB stick. Can you pots a screenshot of the files on your USB stick please?

The only folder on the usb stick should be update, in there a folder called tmtwin4k, and in there the files you've posted.

OK, that seems fine. Can we try flashing it using Image manager/putty please?

Do you know the IP address of the box? Put that in your web browser. If you don't know it, try tmtwin4k.local

Sorry I don't know the IP address of the box. I tried to get into the router (Virgin) but the password is being rejected, even after I reset the box.

How do I do "try tmtwin4k.local"

    Thanks

Use that (tmtwin4k.local) in the web browser as the address/url

If I remember correctly, the new Virgin routers asks you to set a new password after you reset it. But let's leave that for now.
