Sky Q LNB neck size

My mother-in-law had Sky Q installed about 2 years ago and we have now cancelled it.

I want to install a "standard" LNB on the minidish to get freesat. The Sky Q LNB neck is not 40mm like a "standard" LNB, correct?

I have a spare Inverto twin LNB that I was going to swap out, but I have read on other forums that reception on Sky minidish with "non-Sky" LNB is not optimum. Is this BS?

Has anyone done this?

Sky LNBs = 38mm
Industry standard, non-sky = 40mm

You will get a minor loss of signal which is negligible for most people. You will be better off getting a Sky universal quad LNB instead of getting the 38/40mm adapter.

I've just had to replace my LNB, £15 with adaptor from EBay (LNB + adapter as a package from an Ebay seller))

Removal is the reverse process
With a pair of pliers push the locking pin up from underneath
With a flat blade screwdriver lever out each side to free the lugs
You can be a tiny bit brutal if you don't want to keep the old bracket

I actually did something completely different after assessing the situation at the in-laws.

The new Q dish was installed about 2 feet from the "old" Sky dish, so I just disconnected the cables from the Q dish and connected them to the "old" sky dish and everything is working fine.

The "old" dish had an LNB with 8 inputs, which surprised me, but made the swap easier in the end.
