    BBC iPlayer on OpenVix

I have read through the posts I can find on this subject but it does not lead me anywhere.

I have gone to Pluginsownloads:Extensions but cannot find either a BBC or an IPTV plugin.

I am only interested in accessing the iPlayer simply from the Vix interface and if that means installing the IPTV plugin (without a subscription) I am happy to do that.

I guess eventually I would like to be able to access ITV, My5 and Channel 4 but one at a time!

Can someone point me in the right direction please?
    Geoff

Thanks twol but where do I get the plugin for IPTV? It is not in the list on my version of Vix. I will look for Xstreamer and e2m3u2bouquet.

I almost suggested an edit earlier but seeing as it was probably the funniest post I'm going to see this year, I kept quiet.

Unless you have a free IPTV sub (which most likely will only give you live TV) IPTV is not the way to go. If you are looking for catch up services 4K fire sticks are available currently for £25 and do a far better job than E2 at that. E2 can only do it via Kodi and Kodi does not have all the catchup services

I have managed to locate the e2m3u2bouquet plugin and enabled the EPGimporter plugin. I have located some free IPTV services that offer IPTV and EPG data (itv.org on GitHub) and entered these to the IPTV plugin but when I try to run it it runs but does not appear to do anything. I assume as it is an open service no username or password is needed?

I am not sure what is meant to ahappenor even if I have installed everything I need. I assume that if it generates a bouquet and EPG it will appear in my listings for me to select a channel that will then be played but even this I am afraid I am unsure of. I cannot find an IPTV guide for dummies so I am a bit stuck.

Do I need to install a separate IPTV player on the box? If so what and where can I obtain it? If not, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please?

JonMMM does that mean a Firestick direct into the TV or is it one that is inserted to the STB and then run through the Vix controls?

Yes. Fwiw, I used various incarnations of e2iPlayer solely for BBC iPlayer access. In the long-run it didn't work out -- with various glitches and incompatibilities -- so I switched to get_iplayer on the PC (downloading raw files for OpenVix). More recently, I went to the dark side with the latest and greatest Amazon TV FireStick. It was about £34 a couple of weeks ago and it's very nice kit for the money. It's overkill/future-proofing here because the TV only does 720p. When it dies...

OK thanks. It is a shame that enigma2 (or OpenVix) does not include on demand or catch up services built in or at least pluggable country by country. It is the only shortcoming I can see against the Humax/Virgin/BT options.

Not much point installing Firestick when it is a smart TV. I will just have to drop out of Vix to use the TV service but that does mean two controllers (yes I know how demanding I am).

We used to have all the UK & Irish on-demand services on enigma2 - it is the broadcasters that are encrypting the streams and blocking us using the services. Approved devices only...

Always worth knowing the history. It is their reticence that drives the open solution culture.
