I know, we're trying things out on a later release. Some of these posts probably need moving to their own thread.

ET10K running 5.4.009 (Release) works fine in every respect.

EDIT: still ok on 5.4.012 (Release).

    Ultimo4K now looking fine.

One inconsistency I still see on both boxes is this hotplug popup, which is not strictly correct as I can play recordings stored on the stick.

I guess it depends on what displayable means.

    MediaScanner does the check.

I've never used a usb stick before, so messages like that can be a bit misleading.

"No displayable files on this medium found!"

    Doesn't look very English.

That's probably a timing issue at boot time as to which one gets seen first. Differeing results seem to confuse the system.
I used to suffer from this (long ago).
The solution is to use the option* to configure where you wish each file-system to be mounted.

*Setup -> ViX -> Mount manager -> Setup mounts

Birdman is correct, setup your mounts correctly in MountManager and then it should be OK.

You can either retrive it from Github and install it yourself or wait for the next release build.
