    Replacng 5.3 Willowbuild Flasing problem

Guys, I've just purchased a used Ultimo 4k and want to flash over the current software, I've done what I always do with the USB (on 2 previous VU \receivers) and cold booted, I get the update message onscreen but the device reads the USB then continues to boot into the Openvix Willowbuild software.

The unit is on my LAN with only a single USB plugged in, I've formatted the USB (4GB) and use the same USB as always.... Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Many Thanks

Not sure how much of ViX is still in build, but assuming that the ViX plugin is available Menu/Setup -> ViX then go to ImageManager -> Yellow button download latest VIX image -> Blue button, flash image downloaded. Will reboot with new image (unless they have done something) - Don‘t restore settings but set anew.

It's just standard ViX with a few added skins and plugins, nothing technical

Well I've downloaded the zip and followed the alarming on-screen messages and when I initiate a flash from the saved file the device starts the flash then hangs on the Waiting for E2 to Stop, the bar goes fully right and it reboots without completing .........

As it replaces the installed image, I would expect it to reboot without any msg ….. but then it reboots to the previous image?
If it doesn‘t flash completely, I would expect a splurge of msgs from ofgwrite saying why not

Have you tried to flash it by command line?

    wget --no-check-certificate -O install_vix.sh https://www.dropbox.com/s/hc2cdr116l...ll_vix.sh?dl=1 && bash install_vix.sh

Abu, I'm assuming I simply telnet onto the old girl then copy-paste the statement above? Will this install a local or remote (dropbox) image.....

Yes copy & paste into telnet. It downloads a script and runs it. the script will guide you through the download process

    So try this:
Copy the Vu+ ultimo4k folder to /tmp so in /tmp you have the vuultimo4k folder (I assume thats the folder name- change if not in command below)
    And then in telnet enter :- /usr/bin/ofgwrite -r -k /tmp/vuultimo4k

Ofgwrite will directly flash the kernel and root in the folder to the vuultimo4k

I am really unsure of what you're asking here... I am by no means familiar with the file system and as far as flashing goes this is the only time I've needed help as it always worked

This is my view in the putty window : root@vuultimo4k:~#

    What am I copying ?

Is it not possible to close E2 from Putty or force it down then run the upgrade again ?
