New option among Movielist Settings

Hi, my question is about the new option among Movielist settings, "Enable automatic collection": I see that, in case you have multiple recording with exactly the same name, they'll be grouped as a virtual folder.
What I don't understand is the difference between the two choices
"On except in same named directory"
and the one which enables the grouping always.
I've done some tries but I didn't find how "On except in same named directory" works.

I thought I had already posted this question but, as I haven't found it in the forum, I'm posting it again. If it is somewhere else and this post is sort of duplicated one, please move this one because, meanwhile, I partially understood this new feature.

"On except in same named directory" doesn't touch recordings which you've already saved in a real directory of the same name.
