Putting my old tm twin oe back into service

Hi for the last few years I used the box less and less and then only to watch the f1 on 19.2e and all everyday recording duties were with a humax freeview recorder. I only ever record the hd channels. Now thinking I should drop one box and think it will be freeview and concentrate on satellite. Is the twin past it for everyday use ?
    Thanks

In a word no if it still works then why not use it or go for a more modern box lots on the market and at good prices. i still use my tm 5400 now and again just for fun but its about 4x bigger than my sf8008 which i use has my main box.

Box is the same technology as the Vu Duo, so 10 years out of date. Yes, it will do the job... very slow, almost painful by today's standards. Would you get your 10 year old smart phone out of the cupboard and dust it off and start using it? Or would you by a new one. Today you can get a box that's a hundred times more capable than that box and at about a quarter of the price.

To answer the latter: I do use 7 year old smartphones (top of the range phones at the time) running a modern OS (Android 11) and they are still very good.
I use my old VU Ultkmo, and it's still very good.

But we are so used to produce (electronic) waste when something new arrives; mostly to please the manufacturers & retailers.

That Ultimo is like lightning compared to the twin. I would rate the twin as one of the worst-performing boxes I have ever had in my possession.

Depends on your budget. For 2+ DVB-S2 tuners...
    SF8008 twin = 109 GBP
    Os Mio 4k = 149 GBP
    GB UE 4k FBC = 189 GBP

SF8008, outstanding box for the money.
Os Mio 4k, really stylish enclosure. Very nice box.
GB UE 4k, 2 root tuners and 6 virtual tuners.
