Ok. Here's where I am:
Installed image 'openvix-5.3.039.release-vuultimo4k', followed the setup wizard and have Astra and Hotbird (and Saorview) channels operational.
Installed 'oscam-emu' as part of the initial setup (install plugins option was offered to me).
Copied over your 'oscam.server' file via ftp to /etc/tuxbox/config/ checked via ssh also that the file was there and it is.
Inserted card in slot chip-side down, cofigured the plugin in 'Softcams' section and rebooted the box.
None of the HD or Mediaset channels are available (SD RAI channels yes) and after about 30 seconds or so this appears on my screen:

What about the other oscam files? .conf .dvapi . reader?

It cannot find an oscam.conf file which should be in the config directory - having said that it shouldn‘t crash - there is a bug in the code

I think when I set it up I only needed the .conf .server files, took me ages to find something that worked off the internet ! I had been using ccam 2.3 ipk previously

Thanks BobbyC. Nothing still. Have kept it on RAI1 for a while in case the card needed time, but no joy.

Of those 5 files I didn't use the oscam.server file as I assume it's the same on you sent me the other day? Also, abu, there's no dvapi / reader. Are they two separate files and should they be there too?

Wait! Hold the front page. I put the card in the second slot and all is working - including record and watch. Jeez, thank you so much guys, and of course a special thanks to BobbyC for the files. That is just brilliant to get something working when you've been trying for ages to do so and it has continually failed. Especially too the record and watch. Not being able to do that was a bit of a disappointment, to say the least, having gone to the bother and cost of installing unicable LNBs (and new dishes to boot .. which needed to be done anyway).

And I have just checked the Astra record and watch and that too is functioning. Now for some modding (skins, plugins, etc). Are we ever happy?

Thanks. It didn't actually crash - as in reboot the machine automatically with a green screen. That error message appeared on screen and after several taps of the 'exit' button it eventually disappeared (only to come back again later). I could still change channel too.
