Question Force name to be used for recording

I set a repeat timer to record the news everyday. It's 2 hours long become sometimes the news is on at different times. I call the timer "News". But sometimes the recording uses the programme name of whatever was on at that time. How can I force it to always name the recording as "News"?

You could use an AutoTimer to record "News" and set it to only be active in a relevant time range on a particular service.

I'd rather use a manual timer that I can rely on. I tried AutoTimer before and it was unreliable.

Why not direct all news recording automatically into a folder called news?

I'd listen to @birdman's advice, what you're trying to do is what autotimers are very good at.

As a matter of interest, did you ever get freeview working?

How do I do that? My recordings all go in this folder: media/hdd/movie
I created a folder called "News" inside that folder via FTP. When I edit a timer and try to change the location I can see the News folder but it won't let me select it.

I created a folder called "News" inside that folder via FTP. When I edit a timer and try to change the location I can see the News folder but it won't let me select it.

Click on your timer or autotimer to edit it.
Highlight Location (currently /media/hdd/movie) and press OK to edit it
PRESS MENU and select "switch to file list"
Hightlight your "news" folder (do not go into it - just highlight it)
    PRESS BLUE to add bookmark
PRESS MENU and select " switch to bookmarks"
You now can select your News entry

Don't forget PRESS GREEN to save where necessary

Note only the timers created from now on will automatically be placed in the folder
Timers that already exist, perhas for the next 7 days, will have been created with the location /media/hdd/movie. You could delete and re-create them.
