Old receiver software for hassle free parent use? (UK FreeSat on TM-Nano2 Super)

I have a Technomate TM-Nano2 Super which I've not used for a while. My parents want a freesat box to be able to watch and record to.

Obviously this can be set up to do that, but is there a hassle free solution that wouldn't need to be updated frequently and just work. I know a lot of the linux satellite solutions need constant tweaking and fettlling to keep working smoothly, would they just be better buying an off the shelf freesat box that will just work?

    Thanks.

I have 4 E2 receivers that have not been updated in almost 4 years and all still work flawlessly. Don’t believe the hype, your box does not need constant updates to function.

E2 boxes are better than freesat ones bought off the shelf.
