    Box Recommendation

    Hello,

I'm new to OpenVix and looking for recommendations of a box that can receive and record different programmes at the same time. I want it mainly for Freesat channels and I'm based in France.

My current setup is a standard Sky large dish pointing to UK Freesat channels (Astra I think but not sure which one) with a Sky 4 port LNB. I have a broken Humax 1GB Freesat PVR which I'm looking to replace.

The new box should be easy to upgrade, reliable, durable, good quality and not too expensive. IPTV and 4k would be both be a bonus. The disk would ideally be a external USB drive.

    What do you recommend?

    Thanks in advance.

Most (if not all) of the receivers on the WOS website will meet your requirements - have a look and then be more exact about your requirements and you will get more response

Look at a box that has Stalker as a plugin option for your IPTV needs. I would look at the Octagon SF8008 and also the Zgemma H9 Twin.
You happy with just a twin tuner setup so can record 1 and watch another, a bit like the old Sky HD box used to do?

    Thanks for your replies.

I've been doing some research and the models that Andy_Hazza suggests were exactly what I'd concluded! Great minds and all that!

So, in response to Andy's question. Yes, I'd like to record one programme while watching a completely different one just like the old sky boxes could do. Can I assume that both these boxes will do this?

Which of the two would people recommend (as I've never heard of either brand - I'm not very knowledgeable about satellite systems but learning!) and why?

Will they both work with my described (above) setup to receive and record UK Freesat channels?

Please bare in mind that I'm based in France so need a sensitive tuner as the sat signals are weaker. I'm at about 80-90% on my Humax Freesat box and works without any issues except for stormy days.

    Thanks again.

Yeah both these boxes will allow for recording a channel and watching another. Both boxes are great, the difference being the Zgemma H9 Twin allowing for an internal HDD, whereas the Octagon SF8008 just has a microSD option. But from your original post, you wish to use an external HDD so either would be a good choice.
I do love the SF8008 and is one of my fave boxes, but the H9 Twin is exceptional value and on a par with the SF8008.
Hopefully someone can help with regards your question about tuner sensitivity.
And a big plus for both boxes is the ability to run Stalker for your IPTV requirements.
Also if/when you get a new satellite box and can use ABM (AutoBouquetsMaker) and using Sky UK (FTA only) gives you more channels than just the Freesat UK, but nothing to stop you having both sets of Bouquets.

Apart from stormy days not an issue - and lucky you! I have a 1.5M dish and still have issues (Bavaria, Germany)
