No the ethernet cable comes straight off the router into the back of the receiver. No VPN's or anything and one router

Could have been an isp networking issue.

Just seen this thread. I had the same message on my screen yesterday morning when trying to access openvix plugin-ins and software update etc.. But the internet was working as I tried and updated the epg through epg importer just to check. This was in the morning but tried again later in the day and everything worked fine. This has happened few times before on weekends so assumed it was regular "downtime" for openvix stuff.

Sorry to resurrect this post, but I have this exact issue on both my receivers, both from different manufacturers. I have mine connected to a router providing a VPN connection (Surfshark) which in turn is connected to my main VDSL router. Even with the firewall turned off on the VPN router this problem persists. There are no blacklists or whitelists set up on either router. I've tried changing my nameserver from Google to OpenDNS just in case. If I change the VPN to pass through for these receivers then it works and I can check for updates. Could it be blacklisted on SurfShark's site?

I've seen this message box occasionally on a reboot. Last time, the box rebooted on an IPTV channel with the message box over that (working) channel. I just dismissed it as a momentary glitch.

I think this has been going on since the change from V5 to V6 of OpenVix. It is definitely related to VPN and is not intermittent. Cannot download plugins or check for software update. However it will allow me to download the firmware updates through the VIX menu. As I said, if I set up the VPN to passthrough the connection for both receivers so that VPN is effectively turned off for both of them, then it works.
