OK, you have two storage devices connected. The larger one is 500GB, and you also have an 8GB Cruzer drive. Is that right? (I did ask if internal or external too). Where have you been saving your setting backups?

Hard Drive is internal and I assume the backups are on the hard drive.

Place receiver in deep standby using option in restart menu. Remove USB stick, power back up. Is there a change?

FTP to the storage device, your settings backups will be in a folder called "backups". Save the whole folder to your PC.

Not ideal that you can't get the df -Th to work.

Blue HD is a skin that is on the plugin server. The settings backup also lists the plugins you had installed. When you restore the settings, you will then be asked if you want to restore (meaning re-install) plugins.

Thanks again Abu, you know my philosophy is 'you can judge someone by what they do for others' and you have been most helpful, I'll update this thread when I get round to replacing the Hard Drive.

Your HDD may be fine, it might be the forced shut down has marked it as "dirty" and a disk check will solve it.

If your receiver is working fine now, you can put it into deep standby, remove power, disconnect the HDD, connect a USB stick and power back up.The USB sick will be mounted as HDD. You can then create a new settings backup that will be on the USB stick. You can save and restore later.

Just re-flashed with the newest firmware using my usb and restored settings and at least now I have the text back in the yellow bar. The reason I was/going to replace the hard drive is that its bigger and some of the tv stations has had a little judder and I've put it down to that, thanks again.
