How to disable smbd & nmbd services?

I can stop the smbd and nmbd services from running using the CLI, but after a reboot they start again. If they are only needed to read MSWindows shares, I have no use for them. What is the way to stop them completely and stop them from starting up on a reboot?
    Kind regards,

    Mick

    Hi,
go to network programs or tools, select Samba/CIFS and disable autorun/autorun.

Thanks Ralf, I've tried clicking on Setup/Network/Utilities/Samba, but when I do it asks me if I want to install a samba server. :-/

Am I supposed to install a server, in order to stop the client from launching?
    Kind regards,

    Mick

…. which means you haven't installed samba to access MS windows files.

We've had this before. People in charge did not appreciate that you have to install the windows shares stuff to activate other functions not related to Windows.

Thank you all, I installed SMB and was then allowed to stop the service and disable it from start up too.
    Kind regards,

    Mick
