Frequent box freezing requires power cycle

    Hello,
For a couple of weeks my box freezes occasionally and doesn't respond to remote control input nor provide the OpenWebif pages, it displays the circling 'Vix' icon in the top left corner. I have to power cycle via the rocker switch to gain control of it. It will then work okay for a while. I have not spotted a pattern in when it happens.

As the software doesn't crash it doesn't come up with the message about a log being created.

Is there anywhere I can look to see what might be happening; Disk analysis, memory analysis etc?

Any other advice also welcome, re-flash, revert to previous version etc.

    Some details of my box:
    Brand & Model: Vu+ Duo²
    System OE: OE-Alliance 4.3
    Firmware version: OpenViX 5.3.009 (2019-10-29)
    Kernel / Drivers: 3.13.5 / 20190429

    Thanks
    Simon

    Hi,
I have EPG-Importer, Firmware Upgrade, IMDB setup, LCD4Linux, Media scanner, openWebif, Picture player and TranscodingSetup.

My setup has remained very stable for a long time. The only recent thing I can think of is a freeview retune event a few weeks ago. I have ordered a USB drive to store the EPG on after reading that is the preferred option.

Where are you storing EPG at the moment?

    Hi
I don't believe so, to be honest I am not sure what that is! In the setup option for Softcam => Softcam manager this is blank.

Where did Firmware Upgrade come from (maybe its a Vu+ special - but never seen it before)?
If moving the Epg to a usb/HDD doesn't fix it (dont forget to delete the existing epg from flash) or better still run 1) below and reflash using ImageManager (find in ViX plugin as below)., then .......

    1. run a settings backup (Menu -> Setup -> ViX - Backup settings (you may need to hit the menu button 1st to assign it to a harddisk)
    2. On another forum seen numerous issues with LCD4Linux - I would remove via the plugins screen (Menu -> Plugins) and then Red button -> extensions (maybe in System Extensions don't have a box that requires it) and delete (select and hit enter, then Yes)
    Reboot.
(.... and you can always re -install from plugins)

    Hi
EPG is currently stored on the internal HDD. I have ordered a 32gb USB stick for this purpose after reading through some other threads / setup guides.

    Hi
The firmware came from the update option on the box, previously I have flashed with official image via download / USB import but recently it has allowed it via the on box menu options.

I will remove LCD4LUNIX and reflash as suggested and remove EPG once my USB arrives
    Thanks

I'd leave it on the HDD, it's only ever read once at boot up, written once when the box closes down (and a bit more often if you choose to increase the frequency).
